About

The Potawatomi Festival had its beginning in 1971 and was initially brought about by the efforts of the Chamber of Commerce.  Then the festival filled McDonald Park and Brady Street between Jackson and Main, from Mill Street to Perry and Brady Streets.

With the passage of time, as the Chamber of Commerce faded from the community’s scene, a group of local citizens accepted the charge of preparing each year the activities that kept the festival part of the community.

To accommodate the needs of patrons who visited the festival and to expand its offerings, the festival moved to Ouibache Park at the riverfront along the banks of the Wabash.  Activities during the festival are now found throughout the city.

Incorporated in 1979, the festival demonstrated its determination to remain a part of the city’s scene, and is celebrating its 40th anniversary. We are proud of our heritage and the advantages we see in a small town setting. We take pride in our businesses, our industries, churches, schools and our people. Even a short stay will convince you to return for a visit again.
